Farmington is a community focused on residential and commercial development while maintaining a sustainable pattern of growth. Located a half hour south of the Twin Cities, Farmington is a community of 21,000 people. Having come from small town roots, Farmington still maintains its downtown area and its civic pride. Farmington is a Minnesota “Greenstep” city and is actively working to make its city cleaner, environmentally conscious, and sustainable as it continues to grow. Over the past decade about 3,000 households have been constructed in Farmington as well as an increase in local businesses. The City expects population to continue to grow and has created a 20 year plan to accommodate their planned residents.

Farmington is located in a more agricultural and rural setting. Working farms can be found throughout the city of Farmington. The Vermillion River is nearby the city as well. Farmington has extensive park and trail systems with 45 miles of paved trails and 876 acres of park land. The dozen parks of Farmington are utilized by families and are open all year long. Farmington’s recreational program is exceptional and helps tie the community together for a more meaningful city.
